The Benefits of Instant Hot Water Dispensers

Heather Asiyanbi - 1/31/18 10:04 AM

Instant hot water dispensers are a convenient update to any kitchen and can open the door to endless possibilities. This kitchen faucet technology is great for making tea and hot chocolate on demand, preparing meals, warming baby bottles and general household cleanup without having to wait for water to boil on the stove.

Instant hot water systems take up a minimal amount of space and are easy to install for professionals and do-it-yourself homeowners alike. The faucets also come in a variety of stylish designs and finishes to match your kitchen.

What is instant hot water?

Instant hot water dispensers, also known as boiling water taps, are integrated faucets that dispense near-boiling water by storing a small amount of water in an electric water heater that can produce up to 60 cups of per hour.

Some instant hot water systems also include cold water dispensers with integrated filters to provide crystal clear drinking water without bulky water coolers or filtering water pitchers taking up valuable fridge space.

How do instant hot water dispensers work?

Instant hot water systems utilize a small electric water heater that is mounted under the sink. This water heater is connected to your existing plumbing and can be plugged into a standard electrical outlet.

Once installed, the water tank holds approximately ⅔ of a gallon of water. The water heater also has an adjustable thermostat so you can match the water’s temperature with your needs. The water heater then maintains the set temperature to provide near-boiling water on demand through a separate faucet that is typically mounted next to your existing kitchen faucet.

Are hot water taps energy efficient?

InSinkErator® has studied the energy consumption of their instant hot water dispensers and determined that using an instant hot water system can save up to 80% of the energy needed to boil water through traditional methods. While energy efficiency can vary depending on how often you utilize your hot water system, the convenience of an integrated hot water dispenser cannot be overstated.

Can I get a hot water dispenser to match my faucet?

Most hot water dispensers are available in a variety of finishes and styles to either match or closely match your kitchen faucet. You can enjoy both the convenience of a hot water dispenser and a great looking companion piece to your kitchen faucet.
